The Fiji Rugby Union board is now in the process of looking at the contract details of the Vodafone 7s players.
FRU board member Baljeet Singh said about 18 to 22 players will be contracted.
The contracts will be on a yearly basis.
Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan said the players can improve a lot if they are contracted.
Meanwhile, the Scotland 7s kicks off this Saturday with the Vodafone Fiji 7s team playing Argentina at 9:30pm in their first pool match before taking on Kenya at 12:36am and Wales at 3:47am Sunday.
