The Australia government had raised concern that there is slow progress by the interim government towards promised election by March next year.

Speaking to ABC News, the Parliamentary Secretary for Pacific Island Affairs Duncan Kerr said that the foreign ministers from the Pacific Islands Forum will meet in Auckland later this month to assess the situation in Fiji.

Kerr said that Australia is committed to seeing Fiji return to a democratic process that can rid itself of the culture of coups and counter coups that have damaged Fiji's economies, societies and international reputations over the past 20 years.
