Officials of ATH and the Interim Government are expected to continue talks behind closed doors in Nadi on the compensation for the exclusive licenses held by Vodafone, FINTEL and Telecom Fiji Limited, for the fourth day today.

Village News has received confirmation that the issue of monetary compensation in return for the exclusive licenses has been taken off the table as the Interim Government is not in a position to make any such payout.

It has been established that the two parties are negotiating possible tax concessions over a period of time to cover the value of the licenses held by the three carriers.

ATH CEO Tomasi Vakatora, Interim Communications Minister Taito Waradi and his Permanent Secretary Amena Yauvoli are heading the talks which also includes officials from FINTEL, Vodafone and Telecom Fiji Limited along with mediators from the World Bank.
