The Amalgamated Telecom Holdings had always wanted to open the telecommunications market for competition because it would be good for the people.

This is after the announcement by the interim Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum that the price control order for telecommunication rates has been lifted meaning competition will dictate the prices.

ATH Chief Executive Tomasi Vakatora said now with the price control order being lifted, the prices of phones will be cheaper.
