The Auditor General's Office has already completed the reports on government expenditure from 2007 and has handed over the reports to the Finance Minister who is the Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.

Acting Auditor General Tevita Bolanavanua has confirmed that the report has been handed to Bainimarama since there is no parliament and Cabinet will deliberate on the report before it is handed over to the Public Accounts Committee for scrutiny.

Bolanavanua said his office is expected to complete the 2008 report by the end of this month.

The Public Accounts Committee member Taufa Vakatale said the committee is currently working on the 2006 reports.

The Auditor General's main role under the law is to inspect and audit and report to the parliament every year the accounts of the State and provide independent assurance to parliament and the public at large that public sector entities have used public funds for the purposes they have been appropriated and in accordance with legislations, financial management rules and regulations.
