Intellectual property issues need to be addressed through a global approach to ensure that all jurisdictions irrespective of size have the uniform legal and technical aptitudes.

That is the message Attorney General and Justice Minister Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum who is currently attending the High Level Segment of the World Intellectual Property Organisation General Assembly in Geneva, will be presenting to those in attendance.

In his address, Sayed-Khaiyum will be showing to the member countries the struggles faced by Fiji and other small Pacific islands in addressing IP issues.

Meanwhile, opening the Meet yesterday, UN Peace Ambassador and soul music legend Stevie Wonder told the diplomats from nearly 200 nations that they needed to agree on a pact bringing "hope and light" to blind people around the globe.

Stevie Wonder who has been sightless since just after birth, warned negotiators that he would write a sad song about them if they didn't act on his appeal.

Intellectual property is defined as any creations of the mind for which property rights are recognized such as music, literature, discoveries, words, and designs just to name a few.

The leaders are currently discussing better access to copyright protected works for the blind, visually impaired and other reading disabled persons.
