The Attorney General has categorised the 2009 US Department of State Human Rights Report for Fiji as a light weight report.
At a press conference this afternoon, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum stressed that the report carries a lot of anomalies and lacks objectivity.
Reacting to a statement made in the report which labels the Fiji Government as the defacto Government, Sayed-Khaiyum stated that it is wrong to say something like this as Fiji has a President, Prime Minister and Ministers.
The report also went on to say that at the end of last year there were two Indo Fijian Ministers in the cabinet and no other minority Ministers.
The report said Indo Fijians who accounted for 37 percent of the population, continued to be under represented at senior levels of the civil service and greatly so in the military.
Reacting on this, Sayed-Khaiyum questioned why similar findings were not released before December, 2006.
