AG says children need to be empowered
Those were the words of Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum who speaking to teachers and students of Baulevu High School in Nausori yesterday.
Sayed-Khaiyum said children are the leaders of the future and today a vast majority of our population is below the age of 30.
He added Government has in the past few years given a number of incentives to ensure that children still come to school which includes the incentive for subsidized bus fares, the food voucher program for those families on the family assistance schemes, and school text books.
Sayed-Khaiyum told the students that not all of them can do everything and be like others and stressed that students must pursue whatever it is that they are good at.
He reminded students to always listen to their teachers and must also have an open mind, not feeling frightened to ask questions, and hopefully teachers will always give the right answers or at least they will be receptive to them asking the questions.
Sayed-Khaiyum stressed that as Fijians we are all citizens of this country and they must all become proud of their country.
He called on students to always contribute to Fiji because this is where they are born, where they live, where they go to school, where their parents were born, and where their grandparents were born.
He further added that the Government is providing for them and they must always contribute to their society.
