The Attorney General said some Fiji citizens who are on a temporary visa in countries in Australia are trying to paint a totally negative picture of Fiji to try and get political asylum.
Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said the sad part about this issue is that some foreign media outlets that already have a distorted point of view are feeding on this and are churning out misleading reports on Fiji.
The latest story is one Usaia Waqatairewa who is currently in Sydney wanting to set up a pirate radio station just outside the Fiji waters to report on Fiji.
He has told The Australian newspaper and ABC that he is already talking to some Australians about the issue.
Sayed-Khaiyum questions what is the motive behind this statement and story.
The Attorney General said many Australian and NZ media outlets are just taking the stance of their governments rather than reporting facts.
