Adi Cakobau School kick started their 2011 Triple N Zone campaign on a high note as long distance runner, Akesa Drotini bagged a gold medal in the 1,500 metres event in the open girls division.

This was an important run for the form seven student as she had lost the event to an athlete from Nadarivatu in the national final last year in the Coca Cola Games.

Although she did not face stiff competition this morning, Drotini showed that she had her eyes set on the national finals. She was also won this event in the Triple N Zone last year.

Looking at the medal tally of the Triple N Zone:

In the girls division:

Adi Cakobau School lead with 1 gold, second is Lelean Memorial with 1 Silver and Rewa Secondary with a bronze in 3rd place.
