Defending champion in the girls division, Adi Cakobau School now lead with 4 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze.

Jasper Williams High School is in second place with 3 gold, 5 silver and 1 bronze while Grammar is in third place with 3 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze.

ACS is now leading the girls division after Sainimere Naivitoma won gold in the Intermediate Girls Javelin event.

In the boys division, Marist Brothers High School has made a strong start on day two of competition as they now lead with 9 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze.

Defending champion in the boys division, Suva Grammar School is in second place with 5 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze while RKS is third with 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze.

Marist has extended its lead after winning the Junior Boys Discus where Tafa Varea won the gold, silver went to Josua Serukilagi of QVS while bronze went to Maurea Konrote of Rampur College.

Christian Singh won gold in the Junior Boys High Jump for Marist while William Lewesi won Senior Boys Triple Jump gold for Marist.

Grammar’s Waisale Ledua won the blue ribbon event last night in a very competitive race.


Waisake Rasalala of Sila Central took the silver after the photo finish in the 100 metres Senior boys final. 

Rasalala has filed a protest with the officials that he came in first and he has also filed a protest against Beniamino Maravu that an athlete cannot take part in 3 individual track or field events. 

We will bring you the decision in relation to the protests however the 100 metres Senior Boys photo finish showed that Ledua’s upper body crossed the line first. 

Ratu Tira Narara of Marist Bothers high school won the senior boys 400 metres final.

Narara broke his old record of 47.84 seconds with a new time of 47.77 seconds.


He added that Marist has something to prove without Banuve.


Best friends Elenoa Sailosi of Adi Cakobau school and Sisilia Seavula of Saint Joseph’s Secondary School battled it out in the Intermediate girls 100 metres final last night.

It was Sailosi who proved to be the faster of the two yet again.


Sailosi added that ACS will defend their title for the 12th year in a row.


In the senior girls 400 metres finals, the daughter of former national 7s and 15s rep Etuate ‘Honda’ Gusuivalu, Suliana, said she was not satisfied with her performance even after winning gold for Suva Grammar School.


Meanwhile, Kaylor Yee won the junior girls 100 metres final for Yat Sen Secondary School after being challenged by Tamara Patrick of Saint Joseph’s secondary School.

Yee who is also trained by two former national sprinters Jone Delai and her father Calvin Yee said she wants to follow her dad’s footsteps. 


A total of 47 gold medals are up for grabs today with 34 on the tracks and 13 from the field events.

The 3,000 metres finals are currently underway.
