Day scholars of Adi Cakobau School will be staying at the school tonight if flood waters do not recede by 6pm.
School Principal Ama Billings said the Waimanu river is still rising and she has decided to keep the students in school as it will be dangerous to release them.
Meanwhile, about 5 houses in Vuniniudrovu village in Sawani is flooded after waters entered the houses just a while ago.
Villager Amasai Bola said villagers have been evacuated to the village hall with their belongings.
