More than 800 people from Tavuya and other nearby six villagers in Rewa now have a reason to smile after the Government of Japan took over the work of re-constructing a foot crossing.
Rewa Provincial Administrator Luke Moroivalu said they desperately needed a new bridge.
Tavuya village which is located ten kilometers away from Nausori town mainly concentrate on sale from vegetables and seafood at the Nausori and Suva markets.
Meanwhile, the villagers of Naikawaga, Namara in the province of Tailevu will no longer drink from the water in the wells as help is on the way.
Spokesperson Aminisitai Dolovuto said the interim government has come to their rescue and will assist in the installation of a water dam to cater for about 500 people.
Dolovuto revealed that the interim Prime Minister Bainimarama is expected to be chief guest at a gathering in the village by the end of this month to launch their water project adding a Soli of $30,000 is expected to be collected on the 25th of this month at Naikawaga, Namara.
