A number of fireworks remain prohibited
The Mineral Resource Department confirmed woodpeckers, strikers, bangers, lady crackers, flash bangers, banger batteries, flying saxon, UFOs, rising crown, moon travellers, all kinds of rockets, all types of shell and spherical or cylindrical fireworks are not permitted for use.
The fireworks that are permitted for use include roman candles, mine, fountain, sparklers, spinners, low hazard fireworks and novelties, wheels and selection packs.
The Department has also confirmed that there is no limitation on the number of shops that are allowed to sell fireworks as long as shops acquire the relevant license and permit from the department.
According to the department, the shops can sell old stock if the fireworks are still okay and as long as the fireworks are of the permitted types.
Shop inspection will be conducted in the coming weeks by the staff from the Mineral Resource Department and including those from the Department of Trade to ensure compliance.
