16-year-old Manueli Tulo will always be remembered by the Fiji Weightlifting Association for his golden lift in the Pune Commonwealth Youth Games which was the first ever gold medal for the country.

Tulo also set a new record for the game when he lifted 219 kg from the previous record of 200kg.

He is now looking forward for the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games and set his sights on the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Also his team mate, Maria Liku won a bronze medal in this meet.

This month, Josefa Vueti won the silver in the 77kg weightlifting category at the Commonwealth Championship in Cyprus.

The win was a boost for the Ovalau native who had a disappointing performance in the Beijing Olympics.

Vueti is in New Caledonia training with Paul Coffa for the World Championship to be held in Noumea in May, 2009.
