The National 15s rugby side did not achieve much this season as they are now ranked 10th in the IRB standing after only playing 3 test matches with Tonga, Samoa and Japan in the Pacific Nations Cup.

The Ilivasi Tabua coached side will now set their focus for 2011 Rugby World Cup after being grouped with defending champion South Africa, Wales and likely Samoa in Pool 2.

Fiji was placed 3rd in the PNC after wins over Samoa and Japan but a close loss to eventual winner New Zealand Maori at home, also going down to Tonga in Nukualofa and they lost badly to Australia A in Sydney.

In the Pacific Cup the Fiji Warriors and the Barbarians team did not live up to the expectations of rugby fans after they were placed 4th and 5th respectively.

In the local rugby competition, the Crusaders for the first time won the Colonial Cup beating the Knights at Ratu Cakobau Park under the leadership of Iliesa Tanivula.

Tanivula also guided Nadi to retain the Digicel Cup and succesfully lifted the Farebrother Sullivan trophy from Naitasiri and defended it against Suva.

He was also announced the 2008 FRU coach of the year and is now in charge of the Fiji Barbarians 7's team preparing for Argentina.
