9yrs imprisonment for 43yr old man
The court was earlier told that Rajendra Samy of Nadera, in June last year had recorded in his personal diary, plans to kill his family members due to ongoing financial disputes which his mother and sister.
It was revealed during the trial that Samy struck his 67 year old mother with a chopper on her face, head and neck and she was in hospital for days and still requires therapy for the horror unleashed upon her.
Samy's two 19 year old nephews also suffered lacerations to their neck and face, while one also lost two fingers.
Justice Shameem while considering the sentence brush aside allegations that Samy was a victim of verbal and physical abuse by his mother saying there is no evidence to prove this.
Judge Shameem stressed that the incident was a horrific one where the victims suffered permanent damage and given the degree of premeditation she arrived at a sentence of 9 years imprisonment.
