National Disaster Management Office Director, Manasa Tagicakibau said various teams are still out from yesterday in the Central and Eastern division carrying out the damage assessment.
Tagicakibau said staff from the Commissioner Centrals office and Military personnel are carrying out the assessment and an initial figure on damages to infrastructure and agriculture should be out by this afternoon.
Meanwhile, Tagicakibau said 20 evacuation centres are still open with 993 evacuees.
He said most of these centres are in Naitasiri where people are sheltering at village halls and Churches.
He added few schools are still open as evacuation centres however they will close them by this afternoon.
