People who do not use seatbelts become living death traps.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) who carried out a sting operation in the Central Division from Korovou right up to Navua have booked 96 drivers for not using seatbelts.
Spokesperson Eroni Volavola said though the fine of $40 exists, people should never gamble with their lives.
LTA said that seatbelt use is mandated under law and it is compulsory that anyone 8 years or older need to wear a seatbelt and that it is compulsory for all cars to have seatbelts in the back seat.
