A total of nine sports are likely to represent Fiji in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
FASANOC President Reg Sanday said this was confirmed during their Annual General Meeting last night.
Sanday said the sports that are likely to take part will take athletes who can win gold medals at the games.
He also said the invitation they received from the Commonwealth had a condition that the Vodafone Fiji 7s team and the Fiji Netball team cannot take part because the draws had already been done.
Meanwhile, the Fiji Rugby Union had earlier made a special request to the Commonwealth to include the Vodafone Fiji 7s team in the games at the end of this year.
This was revealed by FRU Chairman Filimoni Waqabaca.
Waqabaca said they have received feedback that it’s too late to accommodate the Fiji 7s team but their hopes are high for a spot in the tournament.
Waqabaca added that if given the green light they are ready to field a team.
