A former Education Ministry clerk will spend the next nine months behind bars after he pleaded guilty to larceny and forgery.

Magistrate Ajmal Gulab Khan was told that Taitusi Yabaki stole Education Ministry cheques, forged signatures and obtained about $7,400 for his personal use while working as a temporary clerk for the Ministry in April this year.

Yabaki has been charged with 2 counts of larceny, 2 counts of forgery, 2 counts of uttering and 2 counts of obtaining money by false pretence.

Magistrate Khan gave him 9 months imprisonment after considering his guilty plea.
