There are revelations today that the eight year old boy whose body was discovered in the bushes in Vunaniu, Serua yesterday was in the middle of a custody battle between his father and mother.
Fijivillage has today received court ruling documents from the Family Division of the Magistrates Court in Suva which states that the eight year old boy's father should immediately return the child to the mother and the grandparents.
The order by Magistrate Tomasi Bainivalu dated on the 29th of July this year also stated that the police should assist in executing the court order.
Magistrate Bainivalu had also ruled that the child's contact to the father be temporarily suspended until the contempt proceedings is heard and determined by the court.
Yesterday Police Deputy Director Operations Erami Raibe revealed to Fijivillage that the eight year old boy's father was found hiding in the bushes by some villagers of Vunaniu and they are questioning him to try and establish where he buried his son's body.
According to SP Raibe the 46 year old confessed to police about the incident.
Raibe also confirmed that the man and his wife were separated and he was paying maintenance as the custody of the child was given to the child's grandparents.
We spoke to SP Raibe in the last hour and he confirmed that the 46 year old man is still being interrogated by the police and the post mortem of his eight year old son is currently underway.
It has been confirmed that the mother of the eight year old boy was studying in New Zealand, and that was the main reason why custody was granted to the young boy's grandparents.
The court order for the child to be in the custody of the grandparents was granted as highlighted on the 29th of July this year.
SP Raibe said the man allegedly killed his son in July.

The boy's grandparents still cannot come to terms with what has happened. His mother is expected back in the country soon.

Earlier...Remains of 8 year old recovered
Police have managed to recover the remains of an 8 year old boy who was allegedly killed and buried by his 46 year old father in Serua two months ago.
Navua Police have confirmed that the man took them to the place where he allegedly buried the son and officers recovered clothes and the remains of the boy.
Detectives are still guarding the scene.
Police are still waiting for a pathologist from Suva to examine the remains before it is removed from the bush.
The man is still under interrogation at the Navua Police station.
He was found hiding in the bushes by some villagers of Vunaniu and upon questioning him, the man confessed that he killed and buried his son.
The man and his wife were separated and he was paying maintenance.
Meanwhile, a team of police officers are now in Beqa to investigate the alleged murder of a 3 year old girl whose body was found floating in the Beqa waters on Saturday.
The post mortem report of a 3 year old girl revealed that she died from choking and police are now treating the case as murder.

Police are now combing the bush lands near Korovisilou in Serua to try and recover the body of an 8 year old boy who was allegedly murdered by his 46 year old father in June and buried in the bushes.

SP Raibe said the post mortem report of a 3 year old girl reveals that she died of choking and they are now treating the case as murder.
It was earlier believed that the girl had drowned however the report says that she may have been strangled.
SP Raibe said their team on Beqa is questioning a number of people but no one has been taken into custody at this stage.
