As we enter the eighth day of the Fiji Nursing Association strike, student nurses are still on duty in major hospitals around the country despite threats by the FNA to pull them out last night.

Officials on duty at the CWM Hospital's Accident and Emergency Department confirm that some student nurses were on duty last night who have now knocked off.

In Nausori, Navua and Sigatoka, no student nurses are giving a helping hand from day one since the nurses strike started.

In Lautoka Hospital, student nurses continue to take basic nursing care under the supervision of senior nurses in the daytime only. Some student nurses are expected to be on duty this hour.

The hospital has more than twenty nurses in each shift working twelve hours. Some nurses are also expected to take their days off from today.

In Ba, Tavua and Rakiraki Hospitals no student nurses assisted after the nurses’ strike. In Labasa, some student nurses are still on duty.
