Nearly 81 percent of the people in communities surveyed by a US General Practioner were found to be overweight.
These are the words of United States based General Practitioner Dr Animesh Sinha who is currently in Fiji working with the poor communities.
Dr Sinha who devotes every nine months to Fiji said so far they have worked mostly in Lautoka and an assessment carried out on some communities indicate that many people are overweight.
However he said ever since they started working with these communities, there have been some significant changes within two months.
He added that they are focusing on those people who may never know they suffer from diabetes or any other non communicable disease.
