The Fiji Catholic Women's League Annual Convention has raised a total of $80,000 at their soli held at the Immaculate Conception Parish of Lami yesterday.

The amount raised was a contribution from 32 parishes around the country.

The three day convention to end tomorrow has seen Catholic Women exhibiting their handicraft and talents with an Annual General Meeting this afternoon to decide on the next location for the Convention.

According to Lami Catholic Women's League President, Alisi Saumatua the money raised will be used mainly for the training of student priests overseas and for the general upkeep of the Catholic Church around Fiji.

The money raised will be used for the training of priests overseas for their education etc.

At the opening of the convention on Friday, it was reported that Archbishop Petero Mataca told members that solidarity among the different communities around the country was very important at that the theme for the convention " Women in Solidarity - building a culture of peace' was a fitting one.
