Even though the number of sexual violence cases reported has increased, the Fiji Women's Crisis Centre believes that 80 percent cases are still not reported.

Co-ordinator Shameema Ali said cases of sexual violence committed by family members are normally the ones that are not reported which may be due to fear and intimidation.

Ali said there is a need for even more awareness so that cases of sexual violence are reported adding that such crimes will continue to be committed by family members if not reported.
