The Health Ministry has raised serious concerns of the likely spread of H1N1 at the two major public events currently being held in the country, namely the Bula Festival in Nadi and the Pacific Youth Festival in Suva.

This follows 8 new cases of H1N1 recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number to 73.

Media Liaison Officer Iliesa Tora said the eight includes 6 males and 2 females, with one of them being a student.

Seven of the new confirmed cases were reported in the Suva sub-division with one from Nadi.

That brings the divisional totals to 39 for Suva, 21 for Nadi and 13 for Lautoka.

Tora said there has been concerns raised on the closure of schools, however that will be the last resort if the situation worsens.
