8 more murder cases reported
Deputy Director Police Operations, SP Erami Raibe said a total of 25 Murder cases have been reported this year, compared to 16 during the same period last year.
Out of the 25 cases this year, 17 were males, six females and two babies were also strangled to death.
SP Raibe said police have managed to solve 21 murder cases while investigations into the other four cases continue.
The Deputy Director added that in most of the cases, the victim was known to the offender.
Meanwhile, police are still awaiting the team of detectives who went to the Western Division to gather statements in relation to the Howell road murder where a 34 year old woman was strangled to death.
No arrests have been made yet.
Investigations into the alleged murder of a 54 year old woman of Toorak who was also strangled to death still continues.
Her partially burnt body was discovered in a cassava patch two weeks ago.
