Police have activated their search and rescue unit to look for 8 people who are missing at sea in two separate fibre glass boats.
On Wednesday a white fibre glass boat with 3 people on board left Tala-ulia village Kadavu for Namalata Village and has not reached its destination. They were expected to reach their village the same day.
In another incident, yesterday a white fibre glass boat with five people on board left Suva wharf for Gau waters on a fishing trip. The boat was expected to return to Suva early this morning but is overdue.
The word "Safeway" is written on the side of the boat.
Police are calling for people living near coast lines and mariners to keep an eye out for the missing vessels.
