Organizers of the Vodafone Fiji 7s team’s victory celebrations are expected to meet this evening to lay out all the plans after Fiji’s first ever Olympic gold medal win in Rio.
The celebrations will take place on the public holiday on Monday 22nd August.
Team Fiji touches down in Nadi at midday this Sunday.
There is no word at this stage on whether the team will come by road from Nadi to Suva or board a flight to Nausori.
The plans are being coordinated by the Prime Minister’s Office and the Fiji Rugby Union.
Acting Prime Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum had earlier said that he would not like to pre-empt the decisions as the plans are being worked out.
The government had already announced that the players will get $30,000 each for winning the gold medal at the Rio Olympics.
Sponsors, Vodafone Fiji had also said that they are working out some plans but this will be known later.
