The national sevens team received a bonus payment of $66,778.20 from their sponsors Digicel today after retaining the Gold Coast sevens title last Sunday.

New Digicel Fiji chief executive officer Mr Maurice McCarthy congratulated the team and said the performance of the flamboyant Fijians was phenomenal.

McCarthy added the team has made a dream start to the 2012/2013 Sevens tournament with an early lead.

Meanwhile, we can expect some new players in the second leg of the IRB World Sevens Series in Dubai next month.

That is the confirmation from assistant coach Timoci Waniqolo during the Digicel Fiji Sevens team’s arrival from Australia this morning.

Wainiqolo said they have to rotate the players because of their long term goal.
