The Digicel Fiji Sevens team kicked off their gold medal campaign on a high note at the Pacific Games in Cook Islands.
They thrashed Wallis and Futuna by 52 points to nil.
Fiji led 35-nil at halftime.
Team coach Iliesa Tanivula speaking from the Cook Islands after the match said the players did very well.
Tanivula also mentioned that Waisale Serevi's Papua New Guinea side looked impressive in their opening match.
Fiji is currently playing Tahiti in their second pool match.
Their third match will be against the Cook Islands at 4:12pm and last match against Niue at 5:40pm.
The sevens rugby competition semifinal and final will be held tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Papua New Guinea beat Solomons 17-12 this morning.
In other games, Niue defeated Tahiti 43-0 and Tonga beat New Caledonia 38-0.
