The national sevens team were formally welcomed yesterday with a Fiji Day Celebration on the Gold Coast, Australia.

The Fiji High Commission attended the Gold Coast celebration, which saw around 300 former Fiji residents and friends of Fiji gather to commemorate Fiji’s 42nd anniversary of independence.

With some 65,000 Fijians residing in Australia, the High Commission will be further represented at the upcoming Fiji Day celebrations in Perth, Canberra, Hobart, Melbourne and South Australia over the next few weekends and will take the opportunity to brief Fiji Communities on the progress of Constitutional and Electoral reforms.

Meanwhile, the Digicel Fiji 7s team will meet Scotland in its first pool match at 2:42pm this Saturday.
