The Digicel Fiji 7s had a traditional Maori welcome when they arrived into Wellington yesterday, and team Manager Alifereti Malo said the reality of being there has sunk in for the boys and they know it will be hard.
Speaking to Fijivillage, nippy halfback Peni Rokodiva said though the team is bolstered with a lot of young players, he stressed they will be in devastating form.
Rokodiva added it will not be an easy task with Samoa looking to avenge their two Cup quarterfinals losses in Dubai and George this season.
Also included in Pool D is the George Cup quarter-finalists USA and another competitive South Pacific side in the Cook Islands.
Fiji face USA in their first Pool game at 12:44pm on Friday, followed by Cook Islands at 3:40pm and the last Pool game will be against Western Samoa at 8:12pm.
