The Digicel Fiji 7s rugby team’s losing streak in the IRB 7s series continued this morning when they lost to South Africa in the semifinal of the George 7s 21-7.

It was a repeat of last week’s Dubai 7s semifinal where South Africa escaped with a 10-7 win but today the host showed they had improved from last week to beat Fiji convincingly, crossing for three tries to one.

While Fiji missed the services of Lepani Nabuliwaqa who was red carded in the 19-12 quarterfinal win against Samoa, they failed to find their form in the semifinal with South Africa who were all out to win their first tournament at home.

Coach Waisale Serevi said his players missed scoring opportunities and they paid the price.
