The Digicel Fiji 7s team kicked off their bid to lay claim again on the Hong Kong 7s title since 1999 and will meet up with Kenya in the second quarterfinal in Hong Kong this afternoon.
Fiji came out winners by 15-0 with a tight game against a strong Welsh side in last night's last pool game and also beating Zimbabwe by 42-14.
Speaking to Fijivillage sports, Coach Joe Savou said he was happy with the new boys who had settled in well.
Meanwhile, New Zealand coach Gordon Tietjens said he is expecting tough quarterfinal and will take each game as it comes.
In this afternoons quarterfinals: New Zealand take on Wales at 4:41pm, then Fiji meets Kenya at 5:03pm, South Africa meets Australia in the third quarterfinal at 5:25pm and England who upset defending champions Samoa by 7-5 in pool play, will again meet in the last quarterfinal at 5:47pm.
The Hong Kong 7s kicks off with the Bowls quarterfinals between Zimbabwe and Chinese Taipei at 1:45pm.
