A total of 77 evacuation centres have been set up in the western division as people continue to experience heavy rain and strong winds.
Senior DISMAC officer Joji Satakala said that though reports have reached them that water has receded in various areas, people should follow the advice from the Nadi Weather Office and not be complacent about waters receding.
Satakala added that people should refrain from going out especially in the darkness.
In totality, there are 9,529 evacuees in the 131 centres.
Looking at the evacuations centres, in the western division, 6,458 people are in the 77 centres; in the north, 10 evacuation centres with 675 people; in the central division, 44 evacuation centres with 2,396 evacuees.
