7 players to make Fiji 7s team debut
They are Apisai Domolailai, Manueli Laqai, Ulaiasi Lawavou, Leone Tabuarua, Alipate Raitini, Samisoni Viriviri and Apisalome Waqatabu.
Meanwhile, Ilai Tinai, Joji Ragamate, Lepani Botia and Osea Kolinisau are the remaining players from last season while Samuela Saqiwa played for Fiji at the Dubai Sevens in 2010.
Botia will captain the team and will be assisted by Kolinisau.
Botia said it is a big challenge to lead a national team.
The team departs for Australia next Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the team presented its I-tatau to President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau at Government House this morning.
In his message to the team, Ratu Epeli said the team does not need to ask for the blessings of the nation because they already have it.
He added the players have to play to the best of their ability because they are carrying the hopes of a nation.
The Gold Coast Sevens kicks off next Saturday with Fiji playing Scotland at 2.42pm in its first pool match.
Fiji will play Tonga at 5.58pm and will then play Australia at 9.46pm.
