A major manhunt is underway to apprehend seven remand prisoners who escaped from the holding cell at the Suva Court house this afternoon.
Police Spokesperson Fred Elbourne has confirmed that Jone Di, Filipe Delana, Eparama Mani, Kilioni Vatutaqiri, Sunia Roraqio, Sefania Turagadamudamu and Lomani Tamani escaped after cutting open the grill.
According to Elbourne the seven fled in a black LPG taxi registration LT 5118.
He could not confirm whether the taxi has been located.
Members of the public are urged to keep an eye out for the black LPG taxi registration LT 5118 which allegedly assisted the prisoners in their escape.
Elbourne warns that harboring and assisting escapees is a serious offence and any one found doing so will be taken to task.
