7 Charged In Relation To Service Station Robbery
Timoci Serukalou, Jemesa Levuka, Jone Togamadanawa, Isaia Ledua, Saula Talili, Metuisela Laba Serukalou and Jekope Serukalou appeared before Magistrate Amani Rokotinaviti and pleading guilty to one for robbery with violence.
Jemesa Levuka who has previous convictions has been charged with five counts of Robbery with violence, resisting arrest, criminal intimidation and giving false name to a police officer.
Levuka and Metuisela Laba Serukalou in the second count have been charged with robbery with violence for allegedly robbing a taxi driver of $60 dollars on the same day. Both pleaded not guilty.
Levuka was also charged with resisting arrest and criminal intimidation, to which he pleaded not guilty and on the fifth count of giving false name to a police officer, he pleaded guilty. He told the Police Officer that his name was Semisi Wainiqolo.
The seven accused applied for bail which was objected by the police prosecutor.
Magistrate Rokotinaviti refused the bail application saying that two cases of robbery with violence and other related offences are prevalent in Suva and in this case the stolen items were not recovered. The seven accused have been further remanded in custody till 12th of this month.
