A 65 year old man is the latest road victim after he failed to recover at the Lautoka Hospital from an accident which occurred in the Nausori Highlands on Friday.

Assistant Police Spokesperson Sergeant Suliano Tevita confirmed that the deceased and five others were travelling in a vehicle which was headed towards Nadi from the Nausori Highlands, when the 33 year old driver failed to negotiate a bend and veered off the road and tumbled.

Sergeant Tevita said all the passengers were rushed to the Nadi hospital and the 65 year old man who sustained serious injuries was later transferred to Lautoka hospital, where he passed away yesterday.

Five other passengers including the 33 year old driver were treated and sent home while investigation continues.

The road death toll now stands at 6 compared to 4 last year.
