There are 62 schools in the country which are still without electricity.

The Education Minister Filipe Bole said that it would need substantial amounts of funds to provide proper sources of power to these schools.

He said it will cost the government $16 million if power is sourced from solar energy or $12.5 million to have electricity from generators.

Bole said through electricity, schools can be equipped with computers, photocopiers and other technological equipment which will raise the standard and quality of the teaching services.

He said that the Ministry is also looking at improving water supply to all schools so that students have clean and safe water from use while in school.
