The Ministry of Health staffs were able to operate efficiently from the Namosi Provincial Building yesterday as Navua town and nearby settlements still experienced a major power outage and intermittent water supplies in the town.

60 to 70 patients were treated at the make-shift facility at Navua Sub Divisional hospital and Navua Health Centre remained closed in the wake of flooding brought about by Cyclone Gene.

Acting Director Central/Eastern Dr Salanieta Saketa has asked the people of Navua to take bodies of their loved ones to the CWM hospital because the mortuary is closed. Dr Saketa adds that emergency cases are to be treated at the CWM.

About ten nurses worked yesterday. Dr Saketa said that changes would be announced once power and water supplies are restored in Navua.
