Oceania Football Confederation has confirmed that only six out of 11 teams will compete in the Olympic soccer playoffs in Fiji.

OFC Media Liasion officer Gordon Watson said Fiji, New Zealand, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, Cook Islands and Solomons have been confirmed to take part while Samoa, Tonga and Tuvalu have pulled out because of financial reasons.

Watson said New Caledonia and Tahiti will not be taking part because they fall under the French Territory as they do not compete in the Olympics.

He said the six teams will play on a round robin basis with the winner automatically qualifying for the Olympics in Beijing this year.
