The Vodafone Fiji 7s team has lost to South Africa 19-14 in the fifth place semifinals of the Singapore 7s.

Fiji was playing with six men in most part of the game after Isake Katonibau was handed a red card for a high tackle to South Africa’s Dylan Sage.

Fiji’s tries were both scored by Waisea Nacuqu in the first half.

The national side was leading 14-7 at half time.

Meanwhile, Canada created history after winning the Singapore 7s beating USA 26-19 in the Gold Medal final.

Looking at the series standings, South Africa extended their lead to 157 points while Fiji are sitting on second place with 132 points.

England are in third place with 130 points while New Zealand are currently in fourth place with 110 points.

Looking at the Paris 7s next month, Fiji will face Russia, Samoa and Australia in Pool D.

Canada is pooled with South Africa, Scotland and Japan in Pool A.

Pool B will see USA, New Zealand, Wales and Argentina while England are in Pool C alongside Kenya, France and Spain.

The Paris 7s will be held from the 13th to the 14th of next month.
