All telephone and mobile phone users have until this Saturday to register under the Telephone Services Decree as the deadline comes to an end on the 21st of August.

It has been made clear that telephone services for users who do not register within the 30 day time frame will be suspended as stated in the decree.

Under the decree a service provider who fails to cancel communications services within two weeks after the expiry of the time frame for each telephone number which has not been registered at that date shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a maximum fine of $200,000.

It is also stated that a service provider must suspend services to a dormant telephone number immediately upon it becoming dormant.

Registered customers for a SIM Card or fixed line telephone must inform the relevant service provider of any change to registration details under the decree, immediately upon such change taking place.

Anyone who breaches this shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a maximum fine of $10,000 or imprisonment for 6 months.

The 30 day time frame for all telephone and mobile phone users to register ends this Saturday.
