Six players of the National U-23 soccer team that came close to qualifying for the Olympics have been named in the Fiji soccer team that will play in the World Cup Qualifiers next month.

They include, Ilisoni Logaivou, Misaele Draunibaka, Akuila Mataisuva, Archie Watkins, Zibraaz Sahib and Remuere Takiate.

Also named alongside are Roy Krishna, regarded by many as the most accomplished strikers in the Pacific, Alvin Singh, Taniela Waqa and Malakai Tiwa.

While yet to come close to reaching the world’s greatest stage, Fiji has enjoyed numerous memorable moments on the qualifying trail, none more famous than a remarkable 1-0 home win over Australia in 1988.
