The Ministry of Health has today confirmed that there has been a total of 6 new cases of HIV and AIDs patients for this month.

This is after the Ministry of Health held a two day workshop where stakeholders in the HIV & AIDS advocacy arena met last Thursday and Friday. The meeting was chaired by the Interim Minister for Health Doctor Jiko Luveni where those in attendance were informed that this is not the real picture of those suffering.

Speaking to Fijivillage, Media Liaison Officer for the Ministry of Health, Vasiti Ritova said that the Minister informed those in attendance that according to World Health Organization calculations, this number should be multiplied three times in order to get a glimpse into how many people are really infected.

HIV and AIDS is one of the new inclusions to the Notifiable Disease List where doctors have to inform authorities if they come across any patients affected by the disease.
