There are six New Zealand-trained horses that remain in contention for next Tuesday's A$5.6 million Melbourne Cup at Flemington, after third declarations for the big race were taken.

Daffodil, Harris Tweed, Cape-over, Spin Around, Gallions Reach and Six O’clock News, are the New Zealand-trained horses.

Daffodil, who finished fourth in the Caulfield Cup, is the most favoured of the six horses on the New Zealand TAB betting market.

Trained by Kevin Gray, Daffodil is currently paying $14 on the TAB.

Favourite for this year's Melbourne Cup is New Zealand-bred Efficient at $5.50, who won the race two years ago, while last year's Melbourne Cup winner and this year's Caulfield Cup winner Viewed is paying $6.50 per bet.
