Police are calling on people to be more cautious and not to leave electrical appliances on while leaving there homes.
This comes after 6 cases of fire were reported yesterday.
Assistant Spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri had confirmed that most of the fires started when the house was left vacant.
A Nadi family lost all their belongings when there 8 bedroom house was destroyed by fire.
The house belonged to a 64-year-old farmer who was away in Sigatoka visiting friends. Police believe the fire started from an iron which was left on.
In Marara, Nadi yesterday a 6 bedroom house was destroyed with its contents. The house was vacant.
Again in Nadi, a two bedroom house was completely destroyed by fire yesterday morning. No one received any injuries and damage is yet to be estimated.
In Saru, Lautoka a two bedroom house belonging to a company director was destroyed by fire yesterday afternoon.
Meanwhile, in Labasa a widow lost all her items when her house caught fire. The incident took place in Qelewaqa, Labasa.
Police are investigating all the reports.
